infinite monolith

Infinite Monolith is a design installation created for American Design Club’s Sound and Vision exhibit. The showcase was part of the Design Pavilion- a large event in the heart of Times Square, organized as one of the main features of the 2019 New York Design Week.

The design brief for this competition called for objects that represent the idea of sound- we decided to have our instalation present the notion of a visual echo.

Infinite Monolith is a mirrored visual echo chamber- the small openings at the top portion of the column are meant to let in, and infinitely reflect the enormous visual input of New York City’s Times Square.

The simplistic white and silver exterior contains a multitude of kaleidoscopic visions- the experience varies based on the time of day as well as the currently displayed video advertisements on the screens above.
