Uncommon Inspiration

A tequila bottled inspired by the culture of Mexico might seem like an overplayed choice. Our goal was to make sure we stay away from cliches.

Since the start of this project, Triptk was set on breaking away from the most common themes associated with Mexican culture. This began our journey to designing a beautiful, modern high end bottle with non-obvious nods to its origins.

A Closer Look

Mexico has an incredibly rich natural ecosystem, great traditions of craftsmanship, and great modern artists and visionaries who influenced the rest of the world.

All these directions allowed us to explore deep conceptual territories which don’t solely rely on the usual folklore visual stories.

Process of Elimination

To test out all of the areas of our inspiration, we produces hundreds of quick, loose sketches. This process of quick idea creation is often the most interesting part of any project- this is also where the communication between us and the client is the most frequent and intense.

The Big Three

Out of many of our sketches, we were able to select and define three final concepts.

Inspired by an age-old craft

This proposed design is inspired by the tradition of Mexican craftsmanship. Barro Negro is a type of naturally black clay native to Mexico. This material holds a valuable place in the rich world of its country’s art world. We took inspiration from this amazing medium, and translated it into a sleek and modern vessel.

The soul of an iconoclast

The history of Mexico is written by the bold. A revolution evokes a juxtaposition of beauty, love, bravery, patriotism, acts of disobedience, and a feeling of anticipation. We set out to design a bottle, which through its interesting use of material contrasts, symbolizes beauty, tension, and monumentality.

A look within

Inspired by minimal anthropomorphic objects attributed to ancient Mexican cultures. Their meaning is vague, but their hypnotizing natures has intrigued humans for centuries. These modernized, simplified forms make an unforgettable bottle.
